BOOK REVIEW...Nothing But Trouble by Trish Jensen

He’s gorgeous, rich, sexy, super nice, and head-over-heels for her. So what’s the problem?

Her psychic best friend predicts that Laura Tanner is due to meet a prince—the man of her dreams. Not a likely scenario for a hard-working bar owner who’s better at karate-chopping rowdy patrons than hobnobbing with the silver-spoon crowd. When Ivy League lawyer Brandon Prince (a prince!) strolls into her bar, Laura admits he’s hard to resist. Brandon quickly realizes that this lovely, funny, take-no-prisoners woman is the special someone he’s always wanted.

Brandon is an expert at wooing women, and even a tough cookie like Laura can’t help but fall under his spell. Before she knows what’s happening, he’s lured her on a romantic adventure filled with laughter and desire. Dazzled, she begins to believe that she really can have this prince of a man as her own.

One problem: Brandon’s powerful mother is used to women chasing his family fortune, and she’ll do whatever it takes to keep yet another money-grubbing female out of his life. If a man is everything you’ve ever wanted, how can he also be nothing but trouble?

I received the ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGallery for an honest review.

"Nothing But Trouble" was an okay read for me. While it was entertaining, fun, and sexy at times, I also found it predictable, cliche, and annoying.

The plot was a bit "plain" if you will but I did like the over all personalities of Brandon and Laura. While Brandon had this whole "I'm a ladies man" type of charming persona. Laura, on the other hand, had a more spitfire and "I'm not falling for that" type of attitude which I appreciated.

MY BIGGEST PEEVE in "Nothing But Trouble" was Brandon's mom. While I could see her concern over Brandon's interest in this middle class girl, I could not get over how meddlesome and stuck in her box she was. I LITERALLY wanted Brandon to grow a backbone and tell her where to stick it but that's just me. Heh.

Over all, not bad read but be prepared to be frustrated at times.

ARC BOOK REVIEW...Gorgeous by Paul Rudnick

Inner beauty wants out.

When eighteen-year-old Becky Randle’s mother dies, she’s summoned from her Missouri trailer park to meet Tom Kelly, the world’s top designer. He makes her an impossible offer: He’ll create three dresses to transform Becky from a nothing special girl into the most beautiful woman who ever lived.

Becky thinks Tom is a lunatic, or that he’s producing a hidden camera show called World’s Most Gullible Poor People. But she accepts, and she’s remade as Rebecca. When Becky looks in the mirror, she sees herself – an awkward mess of split ends and cankles. But when anyone else looks at Becky, they see pure five-alarm hotness.

Soon Rebecca is on the cover of Vogue, the new Hollywood darling, and dating celebrities. Then Becky meets Prince Gregory, heir to the British throne, and everything starts to crumble. Because Rebecca aside, Becky loves him. But to love her back, Gregory would have to look past the blinding Rebecca to see the real girl inside. And Becky knows there’s not enough magic in the world.

A screamingly defiant, hugely naughty, and impossibly fun free fall past the cat walks, the red carpets, and even the halls of Buckingham Palace,Gorgeous does the impossible: It makes you see yourself clearly for the first time.
Expected publication: April 30th 2013 by Scholastic Press
I actually really liked "Gorgeous." Normally I tend to skip over these types of stories but I was curious about it and thus requested to view it from the publisher for an honest review.

"Gorgeous" is the story of your typical ordinary girl named Becky whois given a chance to become a big time celebrity. When she finally hits her peak, she meets handsome Prince Gregory but is unsure if he's in love with Rebecca, her celebrity name, or her true self, Becky. How will things pan out for her and her prince?

...............

I guess what caught me about "Gorgeous" is the fact that deep down I'm one of those ordinary girls who wants her Prince Charming to fall in love with her which literally happens for Becky. Only, she's unsure and insecure about who Prince Gregory really has feelings for.

"Gorgeous" to me has the right combination of love, finding yourself and staying true to the "real you", and also going for want you want. Although I must admit that a lot of this story seemed like something that would only happen in a fairy tale, I still really appreciated the author for his attempt towards creating the world and characters of "Gorgeous."

Expected publication: May 13th 2013 by Entangled Publishing (Indulgence)
I actually liked this book. It was interesting having a girl heroine with the name of Mason since I'd normally picture of guy with the name. And well too, my nephew is named Mason!

Anyways, what reeled me in if anything was the personality of Mason. Mason was born wealthy but she still works hard to rebuild her father's crumbling empire.

Mason later meets Holt Turner and shares one blissful night away from her "real life" but Holt isn't willing to let her go so easily. He thus relentlessly pursues Mason but when other commitment and consequences diverse from their one night together what will become of them??

"Merger to Marriage" is a fast paced, fun, and sexy read.

ARC BOOK REVIEW...Talking Dirty with the CEO by Jackie Ashenden

Gadget journalist Christie St. John is more geek than chic. Yet as the chemistry between him and Christie burns out of control, he can't help but think this woman is out for his money like all the rest. She claims she wants his heart instead – but that’s the one thing he can never give.
Expected publication: May 13th 2013 by Entangled: Indulgence

"Talking Dirty With the CEO" was an okay read. I really wanted to like but I just couldn't. The whole story line was a bit weak and the characters' dialogue and situations seemed too forced at times.

I literally felt that the whole precipice of this read was directly taken straight out of a storybook. I mean, geeky journalist publishes an online article that ends up into a steamy encounter with a sexy CEO mogul and the man of her dreams?? Doesn't sound so plausible to me.

ARC BOOK REVIEW...The Goddess by Robyn Grady

After college graduation, Helene Masters is excited to land a job in a picturesque Aegean kingdom. Tasked with sprucing up the Prince's villa, she inadvertently finds herself trapped on the  island with the sexiest man alive. Of course she has to fall for a man who is destined to only marry royalty. Darius Vasily, Prince of Teirenias, can't figure out what pretty, but accident-prone, Helene is doing at his private estate. After dousing him in paint, she disappears inside the secret cave holding the royal family treasure—a fertility statue, but a cave-in traps them both. Now Darius has to figure out how to save them before he kills her for getting them into this mess in the first place—or gives into their amazing chemistry.
Expected publication: May 12th 2013 by Entangled: Indulgence

"The Goddess" is the first novel that I've ever read from Robyn Grady and it's a good start.

Helene Masters finds herself stuck in the middle of a secluded island in Aegean Kingdom within the company of the prince himself, Darius Vasily.

Sparks fly between them but when honor, duty, and choosing a life of your own come into the picture what will these lovers do??

"The Goddess" was evenly paced and an over all nice read. I could see how both of these characters' personalities meshed since Darius is more traditional and "by the book" whereas Helene is more of a free spirit and "go the wind" kind of girl.

The plot was a little weak for me but nevertheless I still enjoyed myself. Go pick up this read guys. :)

Joining Nemesis, Unlimited has made Eva Warrick much more than the well-mannered lady she appears to be—one who can shoot, fight, and outsmart any man in the quest to right the injustices so often suffered by the innocent. She’s not afraid of the burly escaped convict, but she is startled by their shared attraction. She and her partners need Jack’s help to get to Rockley, but Eva finds she wants Jack for scandalous reasons all her own…

Along the way he meets Eva Warrick, a member of Nemesis, a group who seeks to seek justice and restore power to the people and their lives are forever changed.
SO…
I found this book to be very fun and interesting. While I found Jack’s personality rough and charming, I especially liked Eva’s “don’t judge a book by its cover” type of character the most. Eva's personality is probably what kept me sucked into the book the most BUT OVER ALL I did Jack along with the whole story’s plot and Jack’s internal dilemma. VERY FUN READ.

ARC BOOK REVIEW...Mama's Child by Joan Steinau Lester

A stunning tale about the deeply entrenched conflicts between a white mother and her biracial daughter.Mama’s Child is story of an idealistic young white woman who travelled to the American South as a civil rights worker, fell in love with an African American man, and started a family in San Francisco, where the more liberal city embraced them—except when it didn’t. They raise a son and daughter, but the tensions surrounding them have a negative impact on their marriage, and they divorce when their children are still young. For their biracial daughter, this split further destabilizes her already challenged sense of self—“Am I black or white?” she must ask herself, “Where do I belong?” Is she her father’s daughter alone?

As the years pass, the chasm between them widens, even as the mother attempts to hold on to the emotional chord that binds them. It isn’t until the daughter, Ruby, herself becomes a wife and mother that she begins to develop compassion and understanding for the many ways that her own mother’s love transcended race and questions of identity.
Expected publication: May 7th 2013 by Atria Books
"Mama's Child" is a story that transcends to readers of all ages. As you would have guessed, the story of a biracial young girl named Ruby and her struggles to find her place in the world.

I was especially touched with many of the themes presented in this book because it's common things that everyone experiences in their lives: family conflicts and relationships[e.g. for Ruby the divorce of her parents and split of her family], feeling inferior to others and wanting acceptance, and also finding yourself.

I found myself really engrossed with Ruby's plight throughout the entire novel and was captivated from how all of these feelings and experiences cultivate into making her the self-confident person she is years from then.

Over all, "Mama's Child" is a definite read you readers should pick up!

I'm usually a little skeptical with romances that have food on the cover but "Lush" was a pleasant surprise.

Mary Whaley *whew that rhymes!* is just your ordinary girl next door. She meets sexy rockstar Damien Hurley at a friend's engagement party and sparks fly even though she tries to deny it.

"Lush" was a 'delicious' read where I found myself fawning over Damien and rooting for Mary. I liked their interactions and Damien's tenacity to win over Mary's heart. I hope there's another book in the series!

BOOK REVIEW...Hell on Wheels: A Loveswept Classic Romance by Karen Leabo

Karen Leabo ratchets up the suspense with a sexy tale of two people chasing tornadoes—and flirting with danger.

Roan Cullen isn’t used to feeling out of his depth. As a photojournalist, Roan travels the planet in search of trouble and chaos—and captures it all through the lens of his camera. But the woman leading him on his first-ever tornado chase makes him crazy. She’s subtle, mysterious, drop-dead gorgeous, and always in control. If the conditions are right, Roan could end up with some incredible photos—and a newly broken heart.

Victoria Driscoll is used to the “boys’ club” that is storm chasing, but the man she’ll be sharing the Chasemobile with for two solid weeks is unlike any of her meteorological colleagues—for a start, he’s far more handsome. But Roan Cullen is a brash risk taker, the exact opposite of Victoria with her precise measurements and forecasts. As tornado season ramps into high gear, the elements are all in place for a massive twister—and an electric, shocking connection between these two chasers.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from these Loveswept titles: Along Came Trouble, The Notorious Lady Anne, and Unforgettable.

"Hell On Wheels" is a fast and easy read that didn't have my stomach all in knots from unnecessary tension.

I didn't like the female protagonist, Victoria, in the beginning but I did end up warming up to her in the end.

As for the male lead, Roan, I absolutely liked his character and sympathized with him at times.

Other than tornado chasing, if you're looking for a book that is action packed like how the title suggests then you are mistaken with this one so go in at your own risk of being unsatisfied. Otherwise, "Hell On Heels" is a great read!

ARC BOOK REVIEW...Sleeping with the Entity (Entity, #1) by Cat Devon

She has a sweet tooth and a dream.

He can’t control her mind like other humans, a trait that makes Daniella irresistible. Could it be that, for the first time in centuries, Nick has met his match? Love is always a force to be reckoned with. But can this vampire have his cake and eat it too?
Expected publication: June 4th 2013 by St. Martin's Paperbacks
** spoiler alert ** I received the ARC via NetGallery for an honest opinion.

Daniella Delaney is an aspiring cupcake maker who dreams of opening her own bakery, Heavenly Cupcakes. She hits a snag when the location of her bakery is met with opposition by business mogul and vampire, Nick St. George.

Nick is puzzled and flabbergasted by Daniella since she isn’t like any human he’s ever met. He tries to keep a distance from her and prevent her from entering his world BUT OF COURSE that does not happen!!

Little does Nick and Daniella know that she already has a part in the supernatural world *cough cough she’s a druid* and with both of their lives colliding together and with supernatural entities in the midst how will things pan out for these lovers?

SO…
I'm happy to say that I enjoyed "Sleeping With the Entity" and found it captivating, refreshing, and a totally new spin on vampire romances.

Daniella wasn't your typical heroine and NO BELLA SWAN. Daniella is fiery, fesity, and also has a backbone which I appreciated about her personality a lot.

Nick, on the other hand, was a charming and interesting type of character. I could see his dilemma as to why he was reluctant towards pursuing a relationship with Daniella but I guess when the chemistry is right between two people you can’t stop fate from happening.

I don't normally dig vampire romances but I decided to take a chance upon and I'm so glad I did.

Over all, very nice and refreshing twist on vampire romance.

BOOK REVIEW...The Heiresses #1 by Allison Rushby

Three triplets—sisters estranged since birth—are thrust together in glittering 1926 London to fight for their inheritance, only to learn they can’t trust anyone—least of all each other.

When three teenage girls, Thalia, Erato and Clio, are summoned to the excitement of fast-paced London—a frivolous, heady city full of bright young things—by Hestia, an aunt they never knew they had, they are shocked to learn they are triplets and the rightful heiresses to their deceased mother's fortune. All they need to do is find a way to claim the fortune from their greedy half-brother, Charles. But with the odds stacked against them, coming together as sisters may be harder than they think.
Published January 7th 2013 by St. Martin's Griffin

The first in its series, "The Heiresses" tells the tale of three very different girls who find out that they in fact are sisters. Now learning of their birth, they find out that they are entitled to a huge inheritance but there's another who would like to get his hands on the family fortune as well. How will it all end for them.

MY THOUGHTS:
"The Heiresses" was short and okay read for me. I liked the the individual personalities of the sisters but the storyline was a tad subdued and boring for me.

I thought that the pace could have moved a little faster and the plot could have gone in a little different direction at times.

Over all though, nice read.

ARC BOOK REVIEW...All Our Pretty Songs by Sarah McCarry

The first book in an exciting YA trilogy, this is the story of two best friends on the verge of a terrifying divide when they begin to encounter a cast of strange and mythical characters.

Set against the lush, magical backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, two inseparable best friends who have grown up like sisters—the charismatic, mercurial, and beautiful Aurora and the devoted, soulful, watchful narrator—find their bond challenged for the first time ever when a mysterious and gifted musician named Jack comes between them. Suddenly, each girl must decide what matters most: friendship, or love. What both girls don’t know is that the stakes are even higher than either of them could have imagined. They’re not the only ones who have noticed Jack’s gift; his music has awakened an ancient evil—and a world both above and below which may not be mythical at all. The real and the mystical; the romantic and the heartbreaking all begin to swirl together, carrying the two on journey that is both enthralling and terrifying.

And it’s up to the narrator to protect the people she loves—if she can.

The first in its trilogy AND McGarry's book DEBUT, "All Our Pretty Songs" is a book to be DEVOURED. I absolutely loved it!!

It has all of the elements many young readers want: music, love, danger, AND magic.

I was a little skeptical when I had first started reading "All Our Pretty Songs" but once I got a hold of it I got sucked into the opulent and intoxicating scenery that McCarry uses to adapt the myth of Orpheus into the backdrop of this palpable tale.

Readers should DEFINITELY take a notice of this book and buy it when it comes out!! :)
