Hardball Teaser 1

I had been seeing this book all over my friends' book feeds and so out of curiosity, I'd decided to take the plunge upon this novel as well.

Erm, over all, I liked it. I've always been attracted to my sports romance reads that are more than just about the sports itself and cocky jocks with huge egos and a weak female heroine that gets on my nerves....And somehow HardBall managed to pull that off with a charming male heroine and your all around girl next door female lead who both possessed a form of charisma and fragility towards one another that readers will be able to gravitate to and not let go of.

I mean, what every day girl next door would love to capture the heart of a hotshot and ooberly sexy baseball player? I think we all are Vivian's deep inside and can relate to her in many ways. She is very down to earth and easy to like.

As for Dash Wallace, *swoons*, he did initially come off as a d*&k but that thought quickly slips as after we learn the REAL Dash and the vulnerability underneath that facade. He is man with a heart of gold if you let him and will love wholeheartedly for those he truly cares about.

I loved the give and take, push and pull, between Dash and Vivian and found their interactions a mix of realistic and fairytale like but also very witty and entertaining.

Definitely a triumph for my first attempt at a CD Reiss read!!

 About the Authors

CD Reiss Profile

CD Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chop-ping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Release Blitz & ARC Review- Rushing the Goal (Assassins #8) by Toni Aleo

now-available-01

Title:  Rushing the Goal (Assassins #8)
Author: Toni Aleo
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: March 28th 2016 by Toni Aleo Books
Plot: Introduced in Toni Aleo’s Bellevue Bullies Series, it’s the Sinclair brothers’ big sister’s turn to find love in the next installment of the New York Times and USA Today best-selling series, the Assassins.

Lucy Sinclair was no stranger to pain.

She grew up with three younger brothers, met a bad boy, got pregnant by him, married him, and then suffered through a nasty divorce from him. Pain. That was pain. To top it off, she even had to go through the heartbreaking divorce of her parents. Through it all, she survived. All she cared about was making sure her daughter was happy and taken care of. Despite an ex-husband hell-bent on ruining her life, she fought to overcome. She’s gotten to the point that she’s okay with being just okay. She never cared about herself because she never had the time. It was Angie and only Angie she focused on, but that all changed when Benji Paxton offered to help her daughter on the ice.

Benji knew the moment he saw Lucy, he’d never be the same. Especially when she came with the bundle of crazy that was her daughter. His heart wasn’t ready for them. After years spent sobering up and finding who he was without the alcohol, he never forgot he was being punished for not appreciating the love he had when he was younger. Because of his past, he had gotten used to being alone, a recluse, but even he had to admit it was getting old. He was lonely. Hockey wasn’t enough anymore. He wanted a family; he wanted his true love.

And Lucy and Angie were just that.

They were just two lost souls.

Floating through life with no purpose.

But finding each other gave them direction, a chance at a future.

And had them both Rushing the Goal to be together.

 My Review

☆ I received an ARC via Toni's representative in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

Benji was one of those genuine, all around good guys that you want as your boyfriend.  He's kind, handsome, athletic, and possesses a heart of pure gold.

His openness and acceptance of Lucy and her daughter, Angie, was truly heartfelt and amazing. It's not an every day reaction any normal guy would have to automatically want to pursue
a single mother who happens to be the sister of one of his teammates.  Not to mention, who is stubborn as a mule and has built a wall as high as Fort Knox built around her.

He is definitely one of those one of a kind, rare guys.

Lucy, on the other hand, is a finicky but understandable character.  She has been spurned in the past by a man she thought was going to be her forever which ended in turbulence and in shabbles.

Now, apprehensive about men and engaging in any type of relationship with one, Lucy soon finds herself on the fence about Assassin's player, Benji Paxton, who infuriates her as he does make her heart stir.

But, despite what her heart wants, she has her daughter to think of first, along with an ex husband who is hellbent on making her life a miserable one.

And now with Benji in the picture, he shakes everything Lucy could have ever expected upon in her life.

He represents hope.  Something Lucy has yet to come across in a while.

But, when Benji's own tragic past reveals itself, will it be too much for the both of them to handle?

I really enjoyed this story.  Lucy, whom we already had met in the Bellevue Bullies Series, as Jace and Jude's sister, was kind of a mystery to me aside from the fact that we knew that she was a mother and kind of a prude.

Delving into her though, I learned much more about her that gave her much more of a layered appeal and what was on the inside of the angry, conflicted facade she carried.

As for Benji.  The man was like a walking, bleeding heart that draws you in and want to know more. He's a man barely holding it together and looking for love and his place in the world.

Enter the answers to his prayers, when he meets Lucy and Angie, whom seem to bring him back to life and want to be an even better version of his self and give him a true purpose admist all the darkness.

Loved this!!

Release Blitz Review + Giveaway!- New Blue (Blue Series, #5) by Jules Barnard

New Blue Blitz

Title:  New Blue (Blue Series, #5)
Author: Jules Barnard
Publication Date: March 28th 2016
Plot:  Summer in Lake Tahoe just got hot...

As Hayden Tate fights to hold her own inside the old boys club of Blue Casino, privileged Adam Cade must decide between the job that means certain freedom from his father’s heavy thumb, or standing up for the girl who’s slowly working her way into his jaded heart.

---

The survivor of a high school sabotage that made her flee her hometown at sixteen, Hayden is no stranger to bullying. Now she has returned to Lake Tahoe to take on her dream job with a degree and a backbone. But her newfound strength is pushed to the limit as she fights to hold her own against the old boys club of Blue Casino.

Adam is the prince of Lake Tahoe, born into one of the wealthiest families in the area. He’s used to doing what he wants when he wants. So when his powerful father threatens to cut him off without a dime unless he uses his Ivy League degree for a job his father got him at Blue Casino, Adam capitulates. Hayden, the head of HR, hates Adam on the spot, finding every way possible to put him in his place—and suddenly the lackey job his father found him gets interesting. Adam’s life of leisure lacks substance, and even though he’s not willing to give it up, he wouldn’t mind the distraction Hayden presents.

But when the casino’s sinister inner workings begin to reveal themselves and Adam is caught between the powerful executives he works for and the lovely Hayden, his loyalties are divided. Blue Casino offers Adam a lucrative career where he wouldn’t need his father’s money for the lifestyle he’s accustomed to, but at what cost? Hayden’s silly side shines through when Adam least expects it, charming his jaded heart, and forcing him to face a morality he never knew he had. For the first time in Adam’s life he finds himself yearning for something real, but will he risk losing everything to have it?

New Blue is the 5th and final book in the Blue Series. Each book in the Blue Series is a stand-alone story and does not need to be read in order.

 My Review

☆ I received an ARC via Indiesage PR in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

As majority of all know, you should always read book series in the order that they are written and released. But I didn't. In fact, I hadn't realized this was the fifth and last installment in this series until after I had already signed up for the release blitz and started reading. But, I don't regret it for one second. The synopsis was too darn intriguing to pass up.

Hayden Tate has returned to her hometown of Lake Tahoe after a devastating past, she vows that she will return a changed woman-- stronger, smarter, and more courageous than what she was.

Now securing a dream job at Blue Casino, she vows to no longer be that limber girl she once was and to stand up to wealth, privilege, and corruption. Everything that embodies Adam Cade to a tee.

But Adam isn't on the inside what Hayden as pegged him to be. He longs for more but he doesn't know what. He wants to prove himself but he doesn't even know if that entails the Blue Casino. Until now after meeting her.

I have to admit, it was a bit bizarre walking into this blind. Like, completely. But in another sense, it was what made this read a bit more of an exciting challenge. Walking into the unknown and now curious to know how it all began. Brings on a surreal feeling.

Over all though, New Blue was an enjoyable read that tests love, friendships, family, and loyalties, and where they all fit in the ever wheeling power of prestige.

I'm now curious to know more about author Jules Barnard and how to read more from her in the future!
