Title:  Flash Bang
Author:  Meghan March
Publication Date:  June 30th 2014 by Meghan March LLC (first published 2014)

Plot:  Rowan Callahan is a career-climbing slut. At least according to the vicious—and false—rumor that is destroying her professional life. But a little thing like her career as an attorney ceases to matter when a plane crashes in downtown Chicago and the entire city goes dark. Her unconventional upbringing makes her suspect the worst: she’s just witnessed the kick-off to the apocalypse. Armed with a backpack of supplies, she leaves Chicago, intent on resetting her skewed priorities and seeking shelter at the family farm with her father and sister. She’s injured and running for her life when she stumbles directly in the crosshairs of two men who just might be her salvation . . . and her greatest temptation.

Graham Buchanan and Zachariah Sawyer are best friends and brothers-in-arms who have been indulging in ménages since before their Force Recon team served in Iraq and Afghanistan. They’ve hung up their uniforms to build a new life for themselves and their team at Castle Creek Whitetail Ranch—a rustic deer hunting preserve that covertly doubles as a doomsday prepper’s paradise. They thought they were prepared for anything until Rowan comes crashing into their lives. Graham and Zach are convinced she’s the one woman who can handle them both, but she has no intention of deviating from her carefully laid plans for longer than it takes her to recover from her injuries. So they propose a deal: they’ll provide her an armed escort home, and in exchange, she’s theirs until they part ways.

It was the perfect plan; except once they've had her, they can’t let her go .

It started with a plane. And then the world went to sh*#.

No zombies. No deadly viruses unleashed.

What could be the cause that led to Rowan "Ro" Callaham’s seamless world falling apart in an instant?

Now with an apocalypse taking over the United States, Rowan must gather her strength to make it out of the city to find her family before trouble comes looking for her or die.

Armed with a first aid kid and basic living necessities, she crosses path with two ex military operatives only to be tempted into her greatest battle yet.

Will she do what she’s always done in the past and put everything first before family?

And when these two sexy men come up with two terms that she cannot refuse, what will become of their fate when it evokes a painful memory that Rowan desperately wants to leave behind? Will she surrender to the throes of passion? Or will she fall so deeply that she’ll never want to let go? One thing is for certain: Rowan is Graham and Zach’s "ONE" and they are prepared to do anything it takes to keep her…

My thoughts: A stellar debut for Ms. Meghan March!

Honestly speaking, and I am not just saying this because I had gotten the opportunity to review this book’s ARC, Flash Bang actually made me want even more from this series. While I got to witness Rowan’s, Graham (of whom Rowan affectionately calls “Conan” from Conan the Barbarian), and Zach’s story take flight, I was actually also hoping for Jonah+his wife+and daughter to have their own separate story line +++ as well as Graham and Zach’s other comrades (like Cam and Lia?) getting some lady or man lovin'. *wink wink* ;)

But MOST IMPORTANTLY, I want a Beau book! Maybe I’m just bias because Beau is the name of my late brother but his really intrigued me into wanting to know more about him.

Trust me guys. I found myself just blasting through this book without even checking how much more I had left to get to the end. *And why yes, I do guiltily do have hang-ups like that!* But, thankfully in this book’s case I did not have this problem at all. In fact, I wanted to see more to see more of the aftereffect of the apocalypse and the reasoning behind what started it in the first place. I just felt as if I was kind of stunted in the whole apocalyptic setting since pretty much the entire story (for the most part) dwells in this super camp that these ex military trained men set up and everything you could need or want is in that secluded facility away from the rest of civilization. It kind of made everything feel sort of surreal in a sense like there wasn't really an apocalypse that occurred.

And the ending of this story! Gah! How did I know that it was going to end like that after Rowan's dad started making comments about the secrecy of their camp location?! It was like a self-fulfilling prophecy come true! Aaah! I need MORE!!

Gosh, please consider writing a book two!! Pretty please?!

Chapter 1
A plane fell from the sky.
It was quite possibly the only interruption that could have dragged Rowan out of the epic pity party she was throwing herself. It was the kind of pity party one threw when a carefully planned life and decades of hard work were demolished by a complete and utter shit storm. And not demolition by a run-of-the-mill shit storm. A shit mudslide, followed by a category five shit hurricane. Rowan doubted anything other than the plane, the fifty-story building it toppled and the hundreds of lives that had been violently and tragically cut short could have pushed the thoughts of the lying asshole and blackballing bitch who owned his sad sack from her mind.
Rowan had to swallow back the bile that rose when what she’d just seen started to sink in. The loss of life ... What the hell just happened?
The symphony of honking horns that filled the Chicago streets died abruptly, right in time with the falling plane. For a single moment, the lunchtime crowds on North Wacker Drive completely stilled.
A beat of silence.
Then chaos erupted.
“We’re under attack!” a woman screamed. She was only three feet away from Ro, and her screech nearly ruptured an eardrum. Terrorists. Okay. That makes sense. Doesn’t it?
“Run!” a large man in a suit shouted as flames burst from the collapsing building.
Traffic stood still. The familiar sound of idling engines and car radios was eerily absent. Rowan’s gaze darted around frantically. The traffic lights and DO NOT WALK signs were dark. There were no fire truck sirens screaming toward the building that was quickly becoming a fully involved inferno. No ambulances were rushing to the scene to try to save potential survivors.
A greasy feeling of panic pooled in Ro’s stomach. Loud popping noises punctured through the sounds of chaos as the glass globes of the nearby light poles shattered before bursting into flames.
Without taking her eyes from the disaster playing out before her, Ro rooted around in her bag for her cell phone. Her panic spiked when she pressed the button and swiped her finger across the darkened screen. Nothing. It had been nearly fully charged when she’d unplugged it from the charger on her desk only twenty minutes ago. Ro’s continued furious pressing of buttons did nothing to bring it to life.
Her brain snapped into focus. No way. It’s not possible.
A firefighter crashed into her bistro table as he ran toward the burning building. Her uncapped bottle of iced tea toppled, spilling onto her lap. The splash of cold liquid freed Rowan from her temporary paralysis, just as three other firefighters ran past. Thank God help is on the way. In that moment, she made her decision. She reached down to yank off her pumps, swapped them for the ballet flats in her bag, and started to run.

Meghan March is a Michigan native who has spent a good portion of her life buried in a book. Case in point: she read the entire romance section of her small town public library by age fourteen. Even after growing up (sort of) and getting a law degree, she never lost her passion for a great story, twisty plot, epic romance, and amazing characters. When she’s not writing, she’s probably reading, target shooting, drooling over fast cars, playing with her crazy mutts, or hanging with her very own sexy bad boy.

eARC BOOK REVIEW...Trust by Terry Towers

Title:  Trust
Author:  Terry Towers
Publication Date:  June 25th 2014 by Soft & Hard Erotic Publishing (first published June 23rd 2014)

Plot:  Gwen Anderson is the jewel of her hometown. She comes from a great family and has a future at Stanford University to look forward to... until the night she is abducted by masked men with the intention of selling her to the highest bidder, leaving the people in her town heartbroken and desperate for answers on her disappearance.

Lance Winters is the son of the man called “The Boss.” He's gradually being introduced to the “family business” with the intent of him becoming the right-hand man of his father's human trafficking organization. Little does his father know, Lance has his own agenda when it comes to the organization that has taken his father over a decade to build.

When Lance is assigned to train Gwen, to make her the perfect slave for sale, he's hesitant. He can't become emotionally tied to the slaves or it could ruin his plans. Training new slaves isn't part of his agenda, but there is something about her sweet innocence that touches him and the thought of any of the monsters working for his father touching her is unthinkable.

Is it possible for Lance to gain the young woman's trust and perhaps even save her life when he's one of the bad guys keeping her from everything she's ever known and loved? Can she ever understand that sometimes it takes an even bigger monster to stop a monster?

 My Review

☆I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!!☆

“You’ve been taken.”

Trust was actually a good read. I had my doubts but with a synopsis like that I just had to take a chance on it. So glad I did!

The story:
Gwen Anderson had it all:

Good looks, a loving family and star lacrosse boyfriend, as well as a bright future. That is, until she was abducted and made a slave.

“I’m no longer a person. I’m a commodity. Gwen Anderson is dead and slave number 342 has taken her place.”

Now in a world where humanity is at a loss and your best hope is to either: 1) endure the physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse 2) be sold 3) AND/or end up dead

Will Gwen be able to escape and make it out alive while not putting her life and those she loves' lives at jeopardy? Or break and face the same the same dismal fate as many before her?

“The only way you get out of here is when you’re sold. Of if you’re dead. The only choice have is how easy or hard life can be for you while here.”

Now enter: Lance Winters.

“The Boss’s son” and next in line to his father's underground business. Deadly handsome and secretive by nature, he has a past and an agenda of his own. But when Gwen steps into the picture, his resolve is shot to hell.

Gone is the cold, indifferent shell of a man he once was and now an overprotective, remorseful, 'Savior Lance' has taken place.

How will Lance must figure out how to execute his plans while saving the girl he loves? Will his and Gwen’s forbidden romance be able to withstand the true terrors and repercussions they’re about to unleash?

And Gwen. Will she be able to save the other slaves?

“He pulled me into his arms and I welcomed his embrace. But even as he held me I couldn’t help but think about the girls downstairs. Those girls didn’t have anyone to fight for them. I had to do something, I just had no idea what it was.”

What about Lance's dad and the rest of the individuals involved in kidnapping and trafficking women for profit? Will she and Lance be able to stop the real monsters behind this heinous crime organization? And will they ever life a normal life once again? Read and you will find out!

“I took your life from you.”I shook my head. He may have been part of the organization that had taken me, but he hadn’t.“No. You saved me.”

My thoughts: So over all, I really liked this read. It did need to pick up on the pacing at times and used a little more action on it but all and all it was good. My biggest criticisms though stem from the instant attraction that they have and the ending. I hate insta-love relationships and chemistry that is not expanded on. I just wasn’t 100% sold on “Gweance.” More like, 75% maybe. I mean, I couldn’t find an exact connection between them other than Lance was drawn to her innocence and purity to which he had lost long ago; and Gwen liking him because he was handsome and nice to her.

As for the ending: it could have been edited out because it was random and unnecessary. Everything was good and then that little “update” at the end popped up and I was like, “okay, that was nice. But was totally unneeded.”

All and all though, a decent exposure to the world of human trafficking and of what happens when you develop Stockholm syndrome and fall in love with your captor. Okay well, the Stockholm syndrome comment was a bit harsh on Lance, but as he had put it in the story, he’s guilty by “association”!

Trust me guys, this one is one heck of a sensual and gritty read! You will be kept constantly wondering who will make it out alive and who will not? As well as, what will be the outlook for Gwen and Lance IF they do escape?

Great job Ms. Terry Towers!

eARC BOOK REVIEW...Finding Dandelion (Dearest, #2) by Lex Martin

Title:  Finding Dandelion (Dearest, #2)
Author:  Lex Martin
Publication Date:  June 11th 2014 by Short on Time Books

Plot:  When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach.

But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate's brother? That’s a shock.

Dani doesn’t regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother’s “type” of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.

Jax knows he’s walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he’s off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can’t seem to care. About anything… except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams.

Despite Jax’s fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister’s friend, he can’t stay away from her, even if it means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work–realities that can end Dani’s college career and lies that can tear them apart.

Jax realizes what he’s losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?

FINDING DANDELION, the second book in the Dearest series, is a stand-alone novel. This New Adult romance is recommended for readers 18+ due to mature content.

 My Review

☆I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you hun!!☆

"If you don't fight for what you love, don't cry for what you lose."

Finding Dandelion was just AMAZING. It isn’t often that I come across authors that I will go out of my way to read their work the moment they send me a copy, but,  Lex Martin is ONE of these select few authors that I make an absolute exception for. I LITERALLY sat and devoured this book in ONE sitting. No joke…I even didn’t notice when the sun went down to even turn on the lights in my house!  Haha

So the story…

Jax Avery:

The filthy rich, twin brother Casanova of Clementine from book one. He also happens to be Boston College's all star soccer player on probation and every woman’s wet dream.

Danielle “Dani”/”Dandelion” Hart:

Just your normal, average girl trying to get through college like everyone else and just so happens to be Jax’ sister’s new roommate.

Dani initially sees Jax on the street but doesn’t know who he is (although she notably remarks that he is really cute) and later meets up with him again at a nearby club where they end up....

in one of the back private rooms.

Things are great in the heat of the moment until life gets in the way and Jax is whisked away and ends up not remembering Dani. Sounds convenient right? But in Jax's defense, he has a good reason for it so don't throw rocks at him mkay?

*wink wink*

Lex Martin does a superb job as she keeps readers wondering what’s to come next. Will Jax ever recognize the girl he vaguely remembers but can’t get out of his head? Will Dani ever tell him the truth?

One thing’s for sure, Dani WILL NOT let herself succumb and be one of those meaningless girls that pass through Jax’s womanizing revolving door. Not that she regrets their one unforgettable tryst of course...

And with fate pulling them together over and over in numerous occasions, and the two beginning to develop feelings for one another, will Jax break away from his jaded past that jump-started his notorious man-whoring antics and take a chance on the brunette beauty? Even if she is one of his sister's friends?

And what of his budding but yet questionable soccer career? Will he be able to change his ways and make it to play as a professional? And if so, what will Dani’s presence in his life mean for his future?

AS FOR DANI... Will she follow her mother's advice and take a chance on life and love and just be happy?  Even if it means that means walking away from the man she loves?

Well’re in for a bumpy ride as emotions run high and stakes are even higher as Dani and Jax ride the highs and lows of life and realize the importance of: love, friendship, family, sacrifice, making choices and going for what you want, and the inevitable reality of death.

Can their budding love be what brings them together? Or ultimately be their undoing? And when a bad decision leads Jax potentially losing the girl who’s come to mean his everything, will their love withstand the odds stacked against them? Read and you will find out!

#A GREAT, GREAT addition to the Dearest series!! I’m still hoping for a Jenna and Ryan novella but am excited for how Daren’s story pans out!! Ugh!! He better dump that ‘slore’ Veronica!! My Gosh, Lex, you have ruined me on this series!! Damn you, woman! lol. And thank you for adding me in your thank yous! I was really excited about it. *hugs* :)
