eARC BOOK REVIEW- Sugar on the Edge (Last Call #3) by Sawyer Bennett

Title:  Sugar on the Edge (Last Call #3)
Author:  Sawyer Bennett
Publication Date:  July 28th 2014

Plot:  He’s utterly alone…

Tortured and existing in a dark spiral of despair, bestselling British author, Gavin Cooke, has come to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to escape the seedy lifestyle he had been living in London and in a desperate attempt to regain his writing focus. He’s twisted, bitter and angry at the world. He’s a loner… needing not a single thing other than his Scotch and a laptop upon which he can bang out his next erotic, dark thriller.

She’s running in place and getting nowhere…

Savannah Shepherd’s life is falling apart. Her dream of being a wildlife photographer seems a distant memory and she’s barely able to make ends meet. Driving herself forward with no clear goals apparent, she’s about ready to pack up her bags and head home with her tail between her legs.

Two unlikely lovers…

He’s raw, forceful and a dirty talker. She’s a flowers and romance type of girl. Yet within each other, they find a mutual craving that can only be satisfied by giving in to their desires for one another.
Lust turns into something more… something they were not looking for but tentatively accept. Will it be enough to push them past the obstacles of Gavin’s bitter past?

*SUGAR ON THE EDGE can be read as a stand-alone*

 My Review

☆I received an ARC of this title via ATOMR Tours to review on my own (outside of the blog tour) in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!!☆"

"There's nothing formal about love, Savannah. It's hot, messy, and totally disjointed...without planning."

description

Sugar on the Edge started off great but in the end floundered a bit for me. I mean, the first 70% was good although the romance went a bit faster than my preference; and then the last 30% was over corny and unnecessary to a point where I felt the story dragged and needed to get to the point.

The story:

Gavin Cooke, a big time international bestselling British author is not the man he once was. Now bitter, angry, and a shell of a man, a lives his life in seclusion while splurging himself on alcohol and countless one night stands.

He meets our female heroine, Savannah Shephard, when he takes a trip to the U.S. and ends up hiring her as his cleaning lady while he finishes up the manuscript to his next big hit.

If only he wasn’t so head over heels attracted to his new employee…

Shall he indulge in mixing business with sensual, erotic pleasure like how writes in his novels?

And Savannah. A woman with a past of her own, Savannah is just trying to get by. With student loans piling up and a dream career that’s going nowhere, she takes up this job with the temperamental, sex on a stick writer, only to be blinded with lust for her boss.

Will giving into temptation be the greatest sin for these two lost souls?

And when they collide, will Gavin’s haunted past leave their new beginnings in tatters?

#An over all, okay but good read!! I just wish some parts were edited, the diagloue didn’t get so cheesy, and the ending wasn’t so rushed.

Nevertheless, a great installment in the Last Call series!! I REALLY HOPE for Casey’s story to be next!! Pretty please!!

My Rating:
-Overall : 8
-Plot : 8
-Writing : 8
-Characters : 8
-Cover : 8.5
