Author: Harper Sloan
Publication Date: June 19th 2014
Plot: Do you take me seriously? Because I don’t. I use my jokes and easygoing personality to hide the pain I’ve felt since he took his last breath. I’m adrift without my partner in crime, my best friend…my brother. I can taste the vengeance just within my grasp.
Until she barges into my life. Promising me happiness and a peace I’ve been craving for years. She is the sun to my darkness, the happy to my despair.
But she holds secrets. Just like I do. She holds hers close, where I just pray mine don’t rock the walls we’re trying to build.
Now I’m stuck at a crossroads between my desire for revenge and my craving for her and the life we could have together—and I have no idea which road I should travel.
All I know with crystal clear certainty is that the past has the power to destroy it all.
☆✮ My Review ✮☆
*Just a heads up: BEFORE anyone reads Cooper, you HAVE TO read Beck to understand what's going on. It's pretty impertinent that you do this.*

"Call it whatever you need to, Chelcie, but just know you are mine."
My initial thoughts: I’ll be the first to admit, until I read Beck I had no interest in Cooper at all; my main and foremost interest had always been Maddox. *ducks head*
(♥)So what made me change my mind?: (♥) Well, how can you NOT after we were are steamrolled with that tragic heart stopper that occurs in Beck? Come on now!
So now COOPER...
Harper Sloan does a great job in yanking readers’ heartstrings as we witness the characters battling with guilt, loss, forgiveness, and even revenge.
"This quest to right a wrong, the vengeance that you're seeking? He wouldn't want that. You have to start living your life for the future that you're alive for, not the past your willing to die for."
I won’t say that this novel rocked my world, because I'd be completely dishonest. Cooper was more of a nice, steamy read compiled with an anguished, sentimental tone due to what happened in Beck. It had everything from:
1) dealing with life's unexpected curve balls
1) falling in love
2) healing and coping with death
And learning how to let go and embrace your future.
(-)So what made me minus a star?☆: (-) I do have a minor complaint, and please note that I am in no way trying to demean Harper's hard work, but... what the heck was up with adding *SPOILER ALERT!* a last minute villain near the ending of the story?
Was it to create shock? Or cause for dramatic pause? It was so random and brief that I found it dumbfounding and blatantly unnecessary to the plot line. Or is it just me? *looks around nervously*
(→) Looking forward... (→)
I am still very much DYING for Maddox’s book!! He's been my bias from the very beginning!! *wink wink* In Cooper, we do get some juicy tidbits on him (and even Emmy)*does a happy dance* so I’m sure it’s safe to say that it’s going to be good! GAH!!! I can't wait!!
My Rating:
-Overall : 8.75-9

☆✮ About the Author ✮☆
Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
