Title: Cage (Corps Security, #2)
Author: Harper Sloan
Publication Date: September 9th 2013 by Harper Sloan

Plot: "Alpha heroes you'll want to kidnap and keep, heroines to root for, and sizzling love scenes with emotional punch." Carly Phillips, NY Times Bestselling Author
Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?
Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?
The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.
All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.
CAGE is a complete story with a HEA.
Author info:
Harper
lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree
City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen
Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy
obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached.
As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It
wasn't until 'Axel' decided to take up residence that she realized her true
calling.
She
started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night;
and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't
take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to
have their story told.

MY REVIEW:
I'll be honest and say that I was highly disappointed when I had initially found out that book two of the series was going to be on Cage and not Beck. Boy, am I glad for Ms. Sloan proving me wrong as "Cage" proved to be an absolute winner in my book!
The good:
-Great story line, fluid pacing, and no unnecessary gimmicks.
-Likeable characters. Both Cage and Melissa are strong, independent individuals that share the mutual angst and loss in their their lives.
And also, Cohen (Melissa's nephew) was a riot!
**“Melwee? What are you doing? Why is Greg not wearing his big boy underwear? Why doesn’t Greg have clothes on? I wanna be naked! You’re gonna see his wiener, and Nana said that boys shouldn’t show their wieners to girls. It’s naughty. You’re gonna go to time out.”
“Daddy! Yeah, Buddy? When I get big like you, will my wiener be big too?”
Buahahahaha. Lol.
The bad:
-Nothing regarding the plot and the main characters
-As for the supporting characters, particularly Dee and Beck, well...the little peaks this book gave into their drama feast annoyed me.
OVER ALL THOUGHTS:
Wonderful addition to the Corps Security Series. Loved ALPHA MALE Cage with his three c*ck piercings! He's now joined the ranks of my book boyfriends. So smexy.....
"His body alone is enough to convince me to sell my left tit just to touch it, but to see what he has been packing all day makes my center weep with wetness. Huge, thick and decorated. He fingers the hoop, which causes his d*ck to jump and a hiss to shoot from his mouth. As if the Prince Albert isn’t shocking enough, the second horizontal bar through his bulbous head has my jaw dropping. My first thought was ‘holy sh*t that had to hurt’, but closely followed it is my body screaming ‘hell f*cking yes, that will feel like pure bliss’!"
AND, DOMINANT.
"He continues to devour my lips in a kiss that is almost bruising. He is letting out everything he has felt over the last twenty-four hours and pouring it into this kiss. I feel owned, loved, cherished, and branded."
SO, MY VERDICT?
A MUST READ! "Cage" is a definite scorching and well put together and executed story. I highly recommend!
“I can’t make you promises, Beauty. I can’t sit here and tell you that I’m worth letting those walls down for. But, I can tell you that if the way I feel for you now keeps growing, there isn’t an army strong enough to pull me out. Spent too long wanting someone worth it and as crazy as it sounds? One look baby… it took one look that even being covered in Nate’s vomit couldn’t dim how bright that beauty knocked me down.”
AND LASTLY, WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT IN THE ONCOMING INSTALLMENTS IN THE 'CORPS SECURITY' SERIES:
3) Beck x Dee
4) Cooper x ???
5) Locke x Emmy??
In regards to the Dee and Beck story, I don't know how I feel about it. I'm excited yet dreading it at the same time. Those two need to get it together. At the point, they're like a train wreck ready to happen!
I actually had wanted Locke (Maddox) and Emmy's story for book three as I fell in love with them during "Cage." Sadly though, their story won't take place until book five. Gee, such a shame... :'(
MY INTERVIEW WITH HARPER SLOAN!:
Hi Harper Sloan,
My name is
Kawehi and I’m a newbie blogger from Kawehi’s Book Blog. I had the
privilege of being granted the ARC of “Cage” for your blog tour and would like
to ask you some questions. So here we go! ;)
1)
How did you come up with the idea
for this book? What inspired you to write it? Ah, it all started with
a name. Axel. He wouldn’t leave my head. Technically, it started with some Goodreads
friends saying, ‘you should write a book’ and I really never gave it too much
thought. I used to write little stories
here and there but nothing like this.
Then I started to think about it and the idea just took root. Axel was always what came to mind. I knew his back story, looks, personality and
about every single detail of his life before anyone else came to me. After I ‘met’ him, the rest was easy.
2)
Are any of the characters based on
people you know? There are a few. Mainly my heroines. But all of them have bits and pieces of
people I know in there.
3)
Both Cage and
Melissa go through a lot in their lives and relationship and share a similar
loss. Is there anything you would like readers to take back from them or
from reading your story? When I write
about characters that have experienced loss, or a hard life I hope to show
people that there are ways to overcome, strength to be found within.
4)
Are there any particular quotes or
moments that you’re fond of that occur in the book? And if you have, would you mind elaborating
as to why they mean something to you? I’m
pretty found of about every sweet and lovey filled thing my boys say. ;) I love alphas that aren’t afraid to show they
have a heart.
5)
I noticed
that the men in this series are alpha types of characters. Are you by chance a major fan of alpha males? If you are, and if any of the men from Corps
Security were pursuing you, who would you choose and why? ;) Oh God
YES! I love alpha men. They are my drug of choice. You tell me there is a book with a hot alpha
and I don’t even second guess, I one-click.
They aren’t hard to write when you love them so much. And… damn, I have no idea how I would
pick! Two months ago I would have said
Axel. Now, I might say Cage. But, deep down – Maddox. And I say that because I know what’s going on
in that man’s head. ;)
6)
Do you have
any advice for aspiring or beginning writers? Tons!!! Do you have a week?? Biggest thing, don’t give up. It might feel like it’s better off just
saying enough but when you hit publish, it is the most fulfilling feeling
ever. I would gladly help anyone who
needed a little advice. ;)
7)
Anything
you’re currently reading? What do you look for or think what makes a good
story? Right at this moment I’m
reading ‘Out From Under’ by Selene Chardou and really enjoying it. I love a good book so I try and read as much
as possible when I’m not writing. I
crave books with HEA and won’t touch a cliffhanger until all the books are
out. J I just like a good story.
8)
And lastly,
do you have anything you can or would like to share with your readers with
regards as to what to expect next in the series? We know that next up will be Beck and Dee’s
story and then Cooper and Locke’s after.
Will you also be writing a story or new series with Cage’s friend,
Braxxon “Brax” Breaker? He got my
interest peaked! Ah, my lips are zipped with what is to come. I will say there are a lot of changes on the
way for the Corps Crew. ;) As for Braxxon, you can find his story in
Seize Me by Crystal Spears. I was
blessed to become friends with her and love her books!
Before I
conclude this interview, I would like to thank you for taking time out of your
day to respond to my questions and inquiries. I really appreciate it.
I was first
introduced to the “Corps Security Series” when a friend of mine had recommended
it to me and reviewed it on Goodreads. I’m obsessed with alpha male
characters so when I saw the cover and synopsis of your book I was instantly
appealed.
Glad I did
read it because I am absolutely in love with this series! <3
Once again,
thank you for your time and input and I hope to hear from your works again!
