BOOK REVIEW...Dearest Clementine (Dearest #1) by Lex Martin

Title:  Dearest Clementine (Dearest #1)
Author:  Lex Martin
Publication Date: April 18th 2014 by Lex Martin (first published April 17th 2014)
Goodreads URL: HERE
Plot:   Twenty-year-old Clementine Avery doesn't mind being called bitchy and closed off. It's safe, and after being burned by her high school sweetheart and stalked by a professor her freshman year of college, safe sounds pretty damn good.

Her number one rule for survival? No dating. That is until she accidentally signs up for a romance writing class and needs material for her latest assignment. Sexy RA Gavin Murphy is more than happy to play the part of book boyfriend to help Clem find some inspiration, even if that means making the name of research, of course.

As Gavin and Clem grow closer, they get entangled in the mystery surrounding a missing Boston University student, and Clem unwittingly becomes a possible target. Gavin tries to show Clem she can handle falling in love again, but she knows she has to be careful because her heart’s at stake…and maybe even her life.

DEAREST CLEMENTINE is a stand-alone novel with two companion novels. This New Adult romance is recommended for readers 18+ due to mature content.

 My Review

Meet Clementine Avery:

✓Twin sister to Jax and daughter of estranged high society parents.
✓An accomplished YA author who writes under a pen name to maintain her anonymity to the public.
✓ Has been burned in the field of love
✓ And oh, a hot as sin RA who she wouldn't mind using (and he as well) in the name of research.

But with a student loan and tuition to pay off as well as love and danger lurking in the air, how will everything turn out? Moreover, what will Clementine do when her next writing assignment requires her to step out of the box and test her limits?

Read and you will find out!!

My thoughts:

I’m always glad to be proven wrong and Dearest Clementine was prime proof of that. While I did add this book to my TBR shelf on goodreads, I had been totally skeptical about it because it had derived from a fairly new and upcoming author.

I’m happy to say that I not only enjoyed it immensely, but that I’m also highly looking forward to the following books which follow Jax and Dani, Clementine’s twin brother and one of her best friends; as well as Daren, Clementine’s ex.

Lex Martin does an astounded job of painting a vividly original and captivating about a girl who may have had a few bad stops in her life but is working to claim her own independence and place in this world.

The only downfall to this book and reason for the -.5 from the star rating was because I felt the involvement with the professor was a bit over the top really. But that's just me.

A lovely, lovely read Lex!!
