Raising my eyes to lock with hers, I murmured, “I want to lick you.”
Her eyes flared wide; her toned tummy tightened.
When she didn’t move, I cocked my head. “Let me taste you and I’ll gladly let you touch my back. But I’m not going anywhere until you obey me. Come here.”
She shook her head, a blush covering her cheeks. “I can’t. How would you—”
Logistics seemed simple to me. “You have to sit on my face, Zel.” I couldn’t stop the small smile and the thrill in my stomach at the thought of her presenting herself to me. She’d have to willing expose herself and hold herself in place while I pleasured her.
“Move. Now. I won’t ask again.” –ROAN
It was the best kiss I’d ever received, but also the worst. It sparked lust and need in every inch of me. My lips wanted more, my tongue wanted savagery. My skin wanted to bruise because he needed to touch me so badly.
All my thoughts disappeared as I nipped at his bottom lip. He flinched, but a second later he copied, his sharp canines piercing my oversensitive flesh.
I couldn’t take it.
My hands flew up and gripped his shirt. Yanking him toward me, fireworks whizzed in my fingertips; my heart galloped toward exploding with lust. I’d never been so drunk on someone before.
Then I landed flat on my back.
The crack of my skull jangled my teeth. The thick carpet did little to cushion me. My eyes flared wide and I grunted in pain. Fear, hot and terrible, swamped my lust in a dampening wave.
“Top rule. Unbreakable rule. Don’t. Ever. Touch. Me.” Fox kneeled on one knee beside my head, breathing hard. His hand noosed my throat, pressing my spine into the carpet. His eyes were cold and lifeless, looking like a hunter intent on blood. –HAZEL
“You didn’t say anything about bondage.”
He shook his head. “It isn’t bondage. It’s protection.”
Fear thickened as I looked into his eyes. “Protection? From what?”
Love, touch, weakness, and emotion are unacceptable.
These are the mantras that had been enforced into the mind of Obsidian Fox ever since he was a boy.
Brought up in an unforgiving and cut throat world where blood, anger, and retribution is the key to survival, how will this “damaged, scarred, enigma of a man” who lives his life in pain and darkness ever find light in the brink of his black and white world?
Enter Hazel Hunter.
Hazel Hunter has a past but she is not broken. Growing up from foster home to foster home and having to fend for herself, she knows what it’s like to life the hard life.
She meets Fox at an underground club, Obsidian, that he owns and the two find themselves in a dangerous and tumultuous set of circumstances that could turn lethal at any given second.
As feelings begin to develop and grow, things hit a breaking point as years of brainwashing and conditioning lurk their way back into Fox’s icy foundation.
Can Hazel be the cosmos to Key’s very existence and be the key to Fox’s salvation? Will she be able to shed him of old demons to bring color to his dreary and f*cked up existence?
Can the monster Fox believes himself to be ever find hope forgiveness, and just be “human” again? And most importantly, can Fox ever shed himself from his “operative” self and find redemption and resolution to be a free man?
My thoughts: Omigah! I’m still trying to comprehend what I just read!
Fox was a conundrum in itself and always made me tremble with great trepidation as to what or how he was going to react! Everyday is a struggle and every day he sees less and less hope to find redemption for his sins. That is, until one woman (and child) shook his entire foundation and showed him that he did have a heart and soul after all!
I must have gasped, cried, raged, and held my breath throughout this entire story! What an emotional rollercoaster about angst, despair, helplessness, and even absolution!
I envied Hazel’s unwillingness to break and let her or Fox’s gritty pasts get the better of her. She really was a mixture of strength, beauty, determination but with an underlying hint of sadness and my heart really broke for her (and Fox) when that tragedy she had been dreading had finally occurred. It just made me sob and sob. I mean, I knew that it was going to come but at the same time I was still hoping it wasn’t.
*gets teary eyed*
Nevertheless, despite this tragic revelation, I think it was necessary because it set off a set of events that taught our characters to even more to cherish life and each other. It allowed for even more healing and exoneration to take place and for both characters to grow and find peace once and for all.
A very lovely and strenuous story about an imperfect love that despite its obstacles could lead to the most rewarding of things!
