Heart of Fame, Book 8
Caitlin Reynolds doesn’t care if the rock star lookalike trying to get into her bar is who he says he is. Sticking to the rules is a big reason the Chaos Room is the hottest velvet rope in Sydney.
Okay, so he’s freaking hot, but she’s been ignoring her hormones since her fiancé left her to go be a doctor in Somalia and then went missing.
After a shattered knee ended his promising soccer career, it seemed only natural for Josh Blackthorne to follow in his father’s rock-god footsteps. Now he’s a megastar, lusted after by women—and men—the world over. But he’s been in lust with Caitlin since he saw her picture years ago.
When Caitlin realizes Josh is who he says he is, she’s the first to make it right. But no matter how badly his seduction makes her want to melt into his arms, there’s a ghost hanging over their heads. A ghost who turns out to be not so legally dead after all…
Warning: Contains a rock star who’s livin’ the dream and livin’ it large, a self-made businesswoman with a weakness for a cheeky smile, and a red-hot battle of tormented wills. May stimulate a desire to throw your panties onto the nearest stage.
☆✮ My Review ✮☆
In this seventh installment from author Lexxie Couper, we follow the story of soccer hopeful turned mega hot rock crooner, Josh Hawthorne, and self made businesswoman, Caitlin Reynolds.
Both characters have quite the comical start, as during their first meeting of each other, Caitlin point blank calls Josh a liar and an impersonating phony for pretending to be THE "Josh Blackthorne, front man of chart topping rock band, Synergy.
The joke then turns out to be on her, as by luck would have it, Josh is well adverse with who Caitlin is and surprises her with a phone call to her uncle. Talk about fate! Hahahaha.
From there, I guess you can say, the rest is history, as we see Caitlin and Josh go forward in their relationship and eventually develop romantic feelings for one another.
But, seeing as this is a story, there a couple of obstacles that need to be addressed from past and current quandaries. The first being, Caitlin's MIA fiancée who turns out to be alive. The second to be: Josh's status and reputation. And last but not least: Josh and Caitlin's reluctance to take a chance on true love.
What will they choose? Can their sever this inexplicable connection that keeps them drawing back together? And will they ever overcome the odds set against them?
Get ready readers, as we journey with Caitlin and Josh as they make some of the most fulfilling and heart wrenching final decisions of their lives that will change the course of their futures!...♥
My thoughts: Blackthorne was more of an “okay” bordering on likable read for me as it was sweet, sensual, and filled with heart-gripping emotion. While I will be the first to admit that I had no read any of the previous book installments, other readers like me should not have a problem getting into the flow of it, as the context and story line were very easy to follow along to and gauge what had happened before.
All in all though, not bad for my very first read from this series! Now my next project should be, should I or shouldn't I backtrack and proceed with reading the preceding all six released books in the Heart of Fame series? Gah, so many good books, so little time!
My Rating:
-Overall : 8
-Plot : 8
-Writing : 8
-Characters : 8

“Okey dokey.”
She sniggered as she rounded the end of the bar and walked
towards the private door on the other side of the dance
floor. “What kind of rock star says okey
dokey?”
He preened. “This kind.”
Her laugh wafted back to him, full of relaxed life and
humour.
It was her laugh that made Josh move. Made him propel
himself from the bar and follow her across the polished wooden floor, despite
the dull ache in his knee and her assurances she didn’t want him. Her laugh and
the simmering passion for life he heard in it. It was the first time he’d heard
such intoxicating emotion from her and it stirred him.
“Well, okey dokey then,” she tossed over her shoulder,
unaware he was close. “Try not to be too famous and doable while I’m—”
He snared her wrist in a loose grip and tugged her to face
him. He couldn’t do anything else.
He had to kiss her. Now.
“What the—” she began, a surprised smile curling her lips.
Lips he claimed with his own.
He cupped her face in his palms as he did so, resting his
fingertips on her temples as he traced his tongue over the plumpness of her
bottom lip.
For a split second, she froze. Stiffened in his arms, her
hips pressed to his.
And then she groaned, a low, raw sound that sent liquid heat
straight to his cock and he dipped his tongue into her mouth.
She met him in his passion, sliding her hands up his chest
to tangle her fingers in the hair at his nape. The painful tug ignited fresh
pleasure in Josh’s body and he deepened the kiss, the subtle sweetness of her
lip gloss teasing his taste buds. He moaned, undone already by the potency of
her mouth and lips and tongue. By the hunger of her kiss.
She pushed her hips harder to his, the curve of her sex a
warm pressure against his cock. The organ pulsed in his pants, growing stiff
and alert and long. Christ, he’d never reacted so quickly to a kiss. Nor with
such urgent need.
He raked a hand over her shoulder, down her arm. Smoothed it
over her hip. Squeezed her arse. She whimpered into his mouth and fisted her
hands in his hair, sliding her tongue against his.
Another groan tore at his throat. The acoustics of the empty
night club took the sound and amplified it. His cock responded, throbbing
harder. He rolled his hips, rubbing his erection against the softness of her
belly. Wanting more.
As if hearing his urgency, Caitlin captured his lip with her
teeth and raked her nails down the back of his neck. Sharp pain sank into his
core. A shudder rocked through him. He kneaded her arse and yanked her closer
still to his body. Fuck, he wanted to be inside her.
He wanted to strip her naked, ram her to the wall and fuck
her with his tongue and fingers and dick.
He wanted to stretch her flat on her back on the bar, spread
her legs and eat her out.
He wanted to hear her moan his name, beg him to make her
come.
He wanted her.
On a purely physical level. On a purely sexual level, he
wanted her. And after the sex, after the raw, carnal want…then he wanted to get
to know her. Because she did something to him, all of him. And this kiss was
just the—

☆✮ About the Author ✮☆
Lexxie Couper started writing when she was six and hasn’t stopped since. She’s not a deviant, but she does have a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get erotic romances that can make you laugh, cry, shake with fear or tremble with desire. Sometimes all at once.
When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.
Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It’s the best of both worlds – old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.
Lexxie lives by two simple rules – measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she’s laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.
