Plot: Loch Powers was the hottest guy I’d ever seen in my entire life.
And I hated him with every fiber of my being.
I'd practically known him since birth. Heck, we’d literally shared a crib as babies at his mom’s daycare.
Then I’d crushed on him hard when we hit middle school but he wouldn’t give geeky, glasses-wearing me the time of day. When his mom made him take me to the sixth grade dance, he’d humiliated me and I vowed to never talk to him again.
The next year when my family moved away, I told myself that if I never saw him again it’d be too soon.
Now I’m back and attending the same college, but I’m no longer the skinny, ugly girl who was so infatuated with him. And I’m so over him it’s not even funny.
But now that I’m no longer the ugly duckling, he’s set his sights on me, and I’m just not sure what to do with that.
☆✮ My Review ✮☆
A story of first love. Forgiveness. Second Chances. && Lots and Lots of Sexual tension that will ignite and incinerate your panties.
I loved Loch!! Though, I wished that the character, Loch, himself, had more depth, character development, and more presence period. Quite frankly, I always just found him secondary and pushed to the back of what I felt he could have been. But that’s just me.
As for Simone St. John, this was really her story, and her story alone, of coming to terms of her past and her own insecurities of her blundered childhood crush on then male bestie, Loch Powers.
Now several years later, and all grown up and no longer the ugly duckling she once was, Simone and Loch cross roads again, but this time he doesn’t recognize her…but she definitely recognizes him!
Ah, how the tides have changed to give her to exact revenge on the cruelty and broken heart he left on her with a new image and a different name.
Still mortified and humiliated from the cruel words and battered heart he left on her, Simone leads Loch on initially, but decides to back out on her plan of vindication, after realizes the faults in her scheme and that she still carries harbors feelings for her sex on a stick, tatted enemy.
But, Loch isn’t having it! With girls lining up to be in his bed, Loch senses something different in ‘Celeste,’ the pen name that Simone gives him at first, and pursues her at all costs with ‘no’ not an option. She’s exquisitely beautiful and doesn’t jump through hoops and obstacles to get his attention.
But, how will he react when he learns of “Celeste’s” secret and her fledgling intentions towards him? Not to mention, that she has been in love with him since they were kids? Will he return her sentiments? Or will her turn her away forever?
A definite improvement in the series. I really enjoyed Gable, which is how I got into The Powers that Be books, Zeke was just okay in my opinion, but Loch was a step up. I just wish we got more into the psyche of Loch a tad bit extra and didn’t only just primarily focus upon Simone, her demons and heartache; not to mention, her having mixed signals over Loch and his hot and coldness.
Anyway, can’t wait for Ryker’s book, which I hope is up next!!
