My Review

description

Of Happiness is the conclusion to the prequel, In Pursuit. Taking place right after Eddi tearfully walks away from Harris in the middle of Chicago square, we pick up right where that left off.

After the lying debacle of Claire, Eddie is still trying to pick up the pieces. She takes refuge in her estranged father and they slowly start to rebuild a relationship with one another.

That's not to say that Harris isn't done with her yet...FAR FROM IT and he'll do ANYTHING to get her back...

As Eddie tries to regain what's left of her broken heart and career, we learn some some interesting tidbits about the evil troll (*a.k.a Claire*) and Harris' deceased brother, the mysterious Cooper.

Can, Harris be able to win back his girl? What with riveting obstacles and disturbing revelations in their way, can these two find happiness in the darkness that threatens to pull them away?

Read and you will find out!

My thoughts: Over all, I really liked this read. It was fast, easy, and steamy. The only part that made it lose a star for me was Claire and a sprinkle of Jared. While we do get from book one that she's psychotic and mentally unstable, I still had some hope that she'd have some form of redemption for her actions. I mean, we do learn why she is the way she is, but all I really took from it was that she was a deceitful and hurtful spite who ended up being traumatized and went completely off the rails from reality after a devastating event. Nothing really to redeem her for her manipulative and blackmailing ways. *sighs*

And Jared, I still in a way don't get his involvement in the story although I do at the same time. To me though, he just didn't make impact and was not needed really and completely unnecessary. Claire was enough PERIOD.

On the bright side...

As for Harris and Eddie, I still ♥ them!! So cute and sexy!!

Ms. Luck does a great job of bringing this book around full circle with baby steps between: Eddie and her dad, her BFF Sarah, her quirky relationship with her gay bestie Sean and his boyfriend Luke (whom I also both ♥ to death!), and the love of her life, Harris♥♡.

A lovely, lovely end to this two part series!! I hope to read more from Ms. Olivia Luck in the future!!

Synopsis
Eddie Neff needs space. Not the type that country stars croon about, but physical distance from her emotionally distant father and the tatters of a broken relationship. So when the opportunity to relocate her life and interior design business arises, the answer comes easily.
Adjusting to life with Claire, her gregarious new roommate, is more than simply testing comfort limits. With just one meeting, Eddie finds herself unable to resist the draw of Harris Grant, Claire’s brooding and overprotective older brother.
Harris doesn’t fit her idea of a safe relationship. He pushes Eddie to face her deepest insecurities and fears of abandonment. And Harris holds on to his own painful loss, unable to overcome personal demons.
Eddie and Harris must learn to conquer their internal struggles. But as they navigate their new love, outside forces fight to drive them apart.
Author note: In Pursuit is the first book in a two book series. Intended for 18+ readers.
