My Review
I haven't been signing up for a lot of books to review lately, but as soon as I had seen this book's synopsis, I was immediately captivated and hit the request form. So glad that I did.
Fallen Woman has a very interesting, but realistic outlook. Here's a woman who knows what it's like to everything and nothing at all. To have everything you could have ever wanted... the world at your grasp....and the perfect family.... only to have it taken away.
I admired this story, as it felt to have a very human quality through the character of Gianna. I could feel her plight, her outlook, her feelings and her struggles. And also the need to protect her family. In fact, I felt a lot of admiration for her. She was a woman knocked by life many times but refused to be defeated.
Her meeting Jase-- the wealthy businessman- to me, was the only cliche part of the story as it from a real side of view seems too fairytale like. I'm not saying this to take away from the story and Gianna's journey (and Jase's). Maybe it's like, after reading many books, a girl down on her luck meets hot, enigmatic rich hottie who has secrets, sets up contract deals, and may be the answer to her problems may seem like a plot set up that I've encountered way too many times.
BUT! Don't let that deter or fool you from this read. I actually liked the character of Jase. He, too, had a likable personna and was commenable for his words and actions toward Gianna.
He and Gianna certainly have not an easy relationship through and through. I did not expect for it to have such feels and angst? throughout and to pull on my heartstrings the way it did. Then again, life and love have never meant to be easy to begin with, and we get to see it unfold in this complicated tale written by author Stephie Walls.
